Long days of traveling behind us. Pounding the pavement through some pretty heavy rains on the Ohio and Indiana expressways. Expensive tolls. Massive flooding in downtown Chicago. Closed streets, a maze of detours, and bumpy roads.

We found a gold mine of veggie oil in Ohio–the first huge vat of it since we’ve left on our trip. Finding good oil is like striking gold. This fill up was worth more than $300. We are thankful. It should get us 850 miles. More later on the art and science of finding veggie oil. To put it briefly, it’s been a lot of work.

And now we rest in the corn fields of Spring Grove, IL at the Richardson’s corn maze (the largest in the world). More on that later. Time to sleep.

Hi Ross! I LOVE that picture at the toll booth. Well done. I hope you are having fun. We miss you. We saw Ryan and Darrah over the weekend and are hoping maybe that you’ll show up at Story Fest. We’ll be there Saturday-Sunday.

thanks Mary! I don’t think we’ll make it to StoryFest, unfortunately. We will be in Michigan shooting a combine demolition derby. I’m sad not to join you, but we have duties to follow.

Hey, Ross. I wrote on Allie’s blog about how I should write on your blog about how much I’ve been enjoying this project already. Can’t wait for more festivals!

Rossy, it’s true what Lex says. Also, are you going to beach weekend? Also, your dads totally wrote on my blog.
